Concéntrico, in its aim to initiate new formats that respond to urban transformations, launches three new international open calls —Ephemeral Agents, Urban Ecologies and Identity and Fiction— as part of the new season of Concéntrico. Within this programme, the festival in Logroño will take place from 18 to 23 June 2026.

The three open calls develop the ideas presented in Concéntrico: Urban Innovation Lab (Park Books, 2025), bringing into action three of the key fields explored in the publication: the social and temporal, the material and environmental, and the symbolic and narrative.

Participation, in digital format, is open internationally to all creators —individuals or collectives— who submit proposals for interventions in any of the disciplines of architecture, landscape, design or art:

Ephemeral Agents, in collaboration with DISTIGMO (Zurich), explores how temporary interventions can act as agents of urban transformation. The programme combines exhibition, symposium and publication, and unfolds through two open calls addressing both existing projects and speculative proposals.

Urban Ecologies, in continuity with the Isla Climática Urbana project, proposes to develop temporary and adaptive solutions that respond to the effects of climate change in the city.
The programme invites participants to imagine seasonal typologies and systems, one of which will be selected for materialisation during the 2026 festival.

Identity and Fiction reflects on the symbolic and narrative dimensions of public space, taking as its starting point the Paseo del Espolón in Logroño. Participants are invited to imagine new readings and urban fictions that transform how we perceive places and collective identity.

Concéntrico will oversee the production and construction of the selected proposals in coordination with the winning teams. These interventions will form part of the set of projects developed in various locations throughout the city during the festival.

1
Open Call Ephemeral Agents · Concéntrico × DISTIGMO

This open call invites participants to reflect on how temporary interventions can act as agents of transformation within the city, generating lasting effects on urban behaviour, planning and public perception.

Developed in collaboration with DISTIGMO (Zurich), the programme combines exhibition, symposium and publication, and unfolds through two complementary calls that establish a dialogue between architectural practice and editorial research. The selected proposals will form part of the activities of Ephemeral Agents, a joint programme connecting Zurich and Logroño around the role of temporality as a critical and transformative tool in urban design.

Call A — Exhibition & Publication
This call will select existing projects —installations, pavilions or prototypes— that have acted as urban catalysts. The selected projects will be presented in the exhibition accompanying the Ephemeral Agents Symposium in Zurich, on 11 December 2025, and will be featured in the publication edited by DISTIGMO.

Call B — Speculative Proposal & Materialisation
Open and anonymous, this call invites participants to imagine new strategies for temporary intervention, adaptable to different urban contexts. The selected proposal will be materialised in collaboration with Concéntrico during the 2026 festival in Logroño, and will also be included in the publication documenting the entire programme.

Location — Call B

In this edition, Call B — Speculative Proposal & Materialization will take place around the Revellín car park in Logroño, a site developed in 2006 next to the 16th-century city wall, on the boundary between the historic centre, the Ebro Park and the contemporary city. Conceived as a provisional use, the space has remained for almost two decades as a surface car park, becoming consolidated as an urban void of opportunity. Its intermediate condition —between heritage, landscape and everyday life— invites reflection on the potential of temporary places as catalysts for new ways of inhabiting and transforming the city.

2
Open Call Urban Ecologies · Concéntrico × Isla Climática Urbana

This open call proposes to develop temporary and adaptive solutions that respond to the effects of climate change in the city, generating replicable typologies that improve thermal comfort and foster social interaction in public space.

In continuity with the Isla Climática Urbana project, this new phase builds on the Heatwave Strategic Plan of the Logroño City Council, which identifies 19 critical points of climate vulnerability. Rather than intervening directly in these areas, the proposals should imagine systems and strategies capable of acting in different urban contexts, both in Logroño and in other cities facing similar challenges.

The proposals should present lightweight and reversible structures, with an ecological and seasonal approach, integrating vegetation, shade, water or natural materials. Among all submissions, one proposal will be selected by the jury to be materialised during the 2026 Concéntrico festival, in a location to be determined according to the strategy or typology proposed by the team, in coherence with the principles of the Isla Climática Urbana.

The selected project will contribute to the consolidation of Logroño’s network of Urban Climate Islands and will be incorporated into a catalogue of seasonal solutions that promote an active, sustainable and community-based urban ecology.

3
Open Call Identity and Fiction · Narratives of Public Space

This open call invites reflection on the symbolic and narrative dimensions of public space, exploring how the places we inhabit contribute to the construction of our collective identity.

The project will take place in the Paseo del Espolón, the civic heart of Logroño —a space where representation and history intertwine around its garden, its bandstand and the equestrian statue of General Espartero. In this context, participants are invited to imagine new urban fictions that transform the way we perceive this emblematic place and its role within the city’s collective imagination.

Proposals may approach narrative, scenography or language as tools for design, reinterpreting the meanings of the site and activating new ways of inhabiting it. The selected intervention will form part of the projects presented in Logroño during the festival, establishing a dialogue between past and present through contemporary design.
